Gen 1, Chapter 11: Birthday Bonanza

We had adjusted to life as parents nicely, and our two girls were completely spoiled. We fawned over them almost constantly...

Prepared or not, Mendy was a natural at being a mom...she was a very nurturing person...

Time flew though, and we were quickly approaching  my Elder birthday. Mendy decided we would have a party and do the twins birthdays on the same day...
It was hard to believe that my little girls were already going to be toddlers...
But Mendy also had ulterior motives for the party...

She planned to also announce to our friends that she was pregnant...

It would be a day for celebration all around!

We spent some time getting everything set up...

And before long all the guests had arrived, and the party was in full swing!

Everyone seemed to be having a great time!I even got to catch up with a few old friends...

Though, sadly, many of the people I had grown to know as friends had already aged beyond me and passed...

Before long it was time for cake, and we all gathered around.

Truth would go first...

"Any wishes little one?"
"Goo!"

Even with being married to a genie, watching my baby age up was the most magical thing I had ever seen...

She grew into a beautiful little lady, who was the spitting image of her mother...

"Want some cake pretty girl?"
*Squee!* "Bwaaa!"
"I'll take that as a yes..."

Next, it was Asia's turn...

She ended up looking more like me than ever...but with her mother's hair...

She bored of the party quickly...

"Having fun, angel?"
*Yawn* "Fuu!"

After that, reluctantly, I stepped up to the cake. It could happen now, or it could happen later, but there was no avoiding my age up...
I was happy to be here surrounded by family and friends when it happened...

"Wish big love!" *wink*

"I wish for happiness for my family...always."

And with that, I felt my body shift...
Those magical sparkles that had just surrounded my girls, now danced around me...

Not too bad for a dusty old man..

So many things were changing here in the Lively house...I only hoped I would be around to see more...

Kat's Notes:
*Sniffle*My lil founder is already an elder! *Teary eye* I'm so happy his family is filling out, but man...I'm actually gonna be pretty sad to see him go! *Sob*

Gen 1, Chapter 10: The Spices of Life

We hadn't been back long when Mendy started to get sick...

At first we worried that maybe she had gotten food poisoning from something she ate, because the nausea was pretty persistant.

After a week or so though I came home from work to find an overly pleased wife...

"I'm pregnant!"

I'll never forget the impact those two simple words had. I was a kaleidoscope of emotions.
On one hand, I couldn't be happier: I had always wanted a family of my own, and we weren't sure it was even possible for Mendy to get pregnant.

On the other hand: My Elder birthday was coming up soon...what if I wasn't around long enough to see my kids grow? What if Mendy was left all alone to deal with it all?

I settled for being happy and tried to ignore my worries. My wife was happy, and needed my support.

I did my best each day to tend to things around the house so she wouldn't have to worry...even if she could just poof messes away, I didn't want her straining herself...

When I wasn't tidying up, I was busily whipping up any little pregnancy craving Mendy had...

It never ceased to humor me  that she lived with a chef, yet always asked for peanut butter sandwiches...

She used a lot of her time relaxing, and talking to the baby...

"...and that's how the rook moves...hmm..maybe Rook would be a neat boys name? Are you a boy, little one?"

Everything really started to feel real once she really started to show, and I couldn't help but be amazed at the idea that a little life was growing inside her...and not just any life...my child...my possibly magical child...

"Hello in there...I'm your Daddy...are you ready to come play yet?"

"We can't wait to see you!"

Mendy was positively glowing...they always say women do when they are with child...but you never really can imagine it until you see it...

Though glowing or not, pregnancy took a lot out of my wife...and it got a bit lonely sometimes because she always seemed to be sleeping. I knew things would get back to normal..well...a new sort of normal, once the baby was here...

It was on a normal quiet evening that it happened...
I was watching tv, and she had been off reading when I heard her scream.

"GABE! What's happening?I don't know what to do!"

I don't think I had ever run so quickly. I got her to the car and practically flew to to the hospital..

Once we were there I got her in the door and they placed her in a wheelchair and we sped off to the delivery room...

After more nerve wracking hours than I can count passed, my first born was placed in my arms.

She had her mother's gorgeous blue skin.

Mendy had known all my regrets about my Mother, and so, in honor of her Mendy chose to name her Truth.

Truth Lively...the blue skinned half genie, descendant of a cursed vampire...it was so fitting in its own twisted way. I adored it.

Then, just as we were all starting to relax, Mendy cried out again. There was another baby!
Just moments later I found out I had yet another daughter...this one looked just like me.

She was named Asia, after the very place both girls were conceived..

We were exhausted when we finally got home, but it was good to know our girls were home safe and sound.

My little Truth...

I can't forget how Perceptive she seemed when I held her, just looking around, taking in the world. She make curious little sounds at things, and was obviously quite Easily Impressed with the world around her...

My darling Asia...

Much like her sister she was rather Perceptive, but she had a quiet manner and a deep look of understanding in her eyes...perhaps she would be a Genius like her mother?

That night we fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillows, but tonight we weren't just asleep as a happy husband and wife...

We were now proud parents too...

Kat's Notes:
FINALLY! WOOO! Second generation! I could almost cue up a Hallelujah chorus and toss confetti. I was really starting to worry about him not ever having kids! x.x

Gen 1, Chapter 9:Stir Fried Surprises

I had become a bit of a local celebrity, thanks to my job. So many celebrities performed and hung out there, it was hard not to end up at least a bit well known when you worked there every day...let alone if you hung out with them after shows for coffee like I often did...

And such things come with consequences. I had been falsely accused of drunkenly vandalizing the mayor's house...in all actuality, it was the doing of a local party girl who needed someone to blame...
Why she pulled my name up is beyond me..but either way, people believed it, and were not responding well to me.

Mendy was NOT happy.

"Just let me banish the little tart to the pain dimension...it'd be simple..."

Tart. Ha! She really was taking her cover as a berry seriously...

"No."
"Fine, I'll go rip her hair out like a normal angry wife."
"Not better..."
"Can I..."
"-No...just no, love."
'Well fine. Then lets at least go on a little mini vacation or something so I don't have to sit here and worry every day that people are treating you bad over things you didn't do!"

She stopped hovering just so she could stamp her foot at that one...I tried not to chuckle...
But she did have a good idea there...we hadn't gone on a honeymoon, and thanks to her I had quite a bit extra just sitting in the bank.

Before I knew it we were in a plane, flying over Shang Simla, preparing to land..
The view was beautiful...

After collecting our luggage, which thanks to my wife's magic was guaranteed not to get stolen or lost, we headed to the bed and breakfast we had reserved a room in...
We were stunned by how pretty it was...

We mostly took it easy there the first night, and we spent some time reading over tourist guides to get an idea of all the "Must See" locations. We were only here a few days after all...

Mendy kept me up the entire night...no..not like THAT...well..that too, but mostly she just couldn't stop talking about all the places she wanted to see. It was easy to forget we were here hiding from bad publicity back home..

"Tomorrow we could go to that restaurant...Oh, and I want walk the historical nature trails...and we could catch that martial arts class to!Oh and also...."
*Continues rambling on and on excitedly*

I did my best to see to it that she went to as many of the places she wanted. We didn't get the early start I expected, because Mendy let me sleep in, as I never get to with my job...but for lunch we went to a highly recommended restaurant. I wasn't hungry, but she was delighted with the Stir Fry...I'd have to learn to make that sometime...

After that we hit the martial arts class...
I have to say...I wasn't half bad for a beginner...

I'm not sure Martial Arts were for Mendy though...she just seemed awkward with it...

We had no trouble at all sleeping that night!

Our final days were spent enjoying separate activities, but neither of us minded. We had each meal together to chat about our experiences...

I enjoyed a nice bike ride alone the countryside...

Mendy got together with a bird watching group that were looking over the migration of some exotic birds. They had to watch them through telescopes from a distance as not to disturb their breeding...

While I was taking a museum tour, I sent her a romantic Sing-o-Gram, which she said she enjoyed quite a bit..

Before we knew it it was time to head home! I was thankful for the trip, not just as an escape and a bonding experience, but it gave me a chance to get Mendy out of the house long enough to set up a surprise for her...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I put all that money she got us to good use, and used it for just what I had said I would. To make sure my family would be well taken care of and comfortable in the future... I had some massive renovations done to our house, and bought us each new cars in our favorite colors!

Inside:

There's even more upstairs that is wallpapered and carpeted, but not yet decorated. I spent all the money she got up but a handful on our vacation and our home...i could only hope she'd be happy with it when we arrived...

Kat's Notes:
Silly Genie wanted to travel abroad, turned out to be pretty good for the story!
I am SO proud of how the house turned out! I may be putting it up for download soonishly! :D
